7lbs of Baby Already?!?!

Let's start with this... my high risk specialist told me today that for 30 weeks pregnant with twins, the boys and I could not look any more "perfect." I am a happy momma!

Our ultrasound today showed both boys are doing well - practicing breathing, cords are good, heart rates are normal and they're growing right on track! Here's where they weighed-in:
Baby A, 3lbs 7oz
Baby B, 3lbs 8oz
They have the exact same measurements in amniotic fluid (plenty), and I'm still healthy with very few restrictions considering how far along I am in this pregnancy. I am experiencing some contractions and ankle swelling, but nothing out of the ordinary or concerning to my doctors. So, all-in-all, I'm carrying approximately 7lbs of baby and still have a little under 7 weeks from today until they're scheduled to arrive... whew!

In preparation and family news, we had a lovely weekend! I washed LOTS of the boys' stuff (just one or two more loads of laundry to do for them) and spent quality time with the girls. I also started setting aside what I'll need in the hospital and ordered a few more items for the nursery. If I was to put a percent complete on ready for the boys, I'd say we're all around 85%. Not bad with 7 weeks to go! A few more things to do this weekend and probably the following weekend, then I hope we'll be able to sit back and wait :).

We also took a break from chores and preparations to spend time out on the water Sunday. We had some wonderful laughs with friends!!! Very therapeutic and a great reset before this busy week.

And... a dose of cuteness, just because!

((hugs to all!))

Double Down on October 11!

My c-section is scheduled 8 weeks from today! I just received a call from Dr. Medlock's office, and unless the boys decide to make an appearance on their own before October 11, they will be delivered that morning.

I took my final work trip last week. I hopped on a plane to Atlanta for one night, and you should have seen the looks I received from the flight attendants. They all looked panicked that I would give birth on the plane! Fortunately, everything went smoothly, and I'm officially "home" until after the new year.

I had a check-up with Dr. Medlock last week, and everything went well. I had my glucose test and received a passing grade. All my other biophysical indicators are good too. The boys had their first biophysical screen, which I've never experienced before. By ultrasound, they checked heart rate, breathing attempts and listened for the rate of blood flow through the umbilical cord. The heart rate and breathing attempts were easy to capture because they were both alert, active and "practice breathing" through the test. But, the cord blood flow as tricker because neither baby wanted to hold still for the measurement. I had to hold my breath and hold very still a bunch of times for each baby. We got it all captured though - and they are both very healthy!

In family news, we had a fabulous weekend getaway! Friday night, Barry and I had a night to ourselves at a hotel down on the beach. We left work early on Friday to take Ryleigh to her 1st grade orientation and then went to the hotel for a nap - it was glorious! We went out to a nice dinner on the town and then ate ice cream and watched TV, uninterrupted. And we slept the whole night - uninterrupted!

Saturday morning, I woke-up at 5:15 with some unexpected symptoms that had us on the way to L&D for monitoring at 5:30am. Sacred Heart is so wonderful! They checked me out quickly, monitored the boys for a little over an hour and determined that we were all just fine - that my symptoms would resolve with a day or two. They called Dr. Medlock, and he released me back to my mini vacation.

Barry then took me to a yummy breakfast and back to the hotel for another nap. Do you see a trend to this mini-vacation?? The girls joined us right before lunch time, so we grabbed some beignets and then had a great time playing in the pool before taking them out for Mexican. Well... Ryleigh ate dinner, but Libby slept through it LOL.

Sunday morning, we all slept-in a bit and then went out for another round of eating and swimming, followed by donuts at Krispy Kreme. We were all very spoiled and enjoyed our last blow-out weekend of summer!

Ryleigh is officially in 1st grade! She loves her teacher, and I love being back into the routine. She got a haircut and ice cream cone after the first day of school. Not a shabby way to start the year huh?!?

This weekend will be yard work, nesting and likely a lemonade stand that Ryleigh has been BEGGING to do all summer. We might get out on the boat if the weather and our energy levels cooperate. Next week, I see the perinatal specialists for my next check-in. I'll update everyone after that appointment. Until then, HUGS!

Bye Bye 2nd Trimester

And that's a wrap on the 2nd trimester... As we say goodbye to the first 27 weeks, let's re-cap the last couple weeks.

The boys are each approximately the size of a head of lettuce. I can tell they've grown... I have felt hiccups for both babies, and their kicking is really strong now. They both react strongly when I eat pad thai - I assume that's approval ;). I can feel movements from my hip bones up to my ribs.

In week 26, I visited the perinatal specialist for a check-up and everything looks good! Each boy was measuring the same (which is strange) at 2lbs 2oz (87% for growth) - grow babies grow! The only challenge we identified is that I was dehydrated. I had no idea!! Going forward, I have to drink a gallon of water a day, at a minimum. So far, I'm getting close, but I know I need to crank-up the intake even more.

Then, that afternoon, I had an ambiguous pain... and my doctors take pain seriously... I ended up at L&D for monitoring after book club for 3 hours. Fortunately, we were able to find a sitter at 9pm who was willing to stay late... All was fine, as expected, so we stopped at Whataburger on the way home at 1am for cheeseburgers and fries LOL.

Last week, I took a driving trip to Jacksonville for training where I stayed with Barry's cousin and his lovely family. I got some baby snuggles with my "niece" and loved every second of it! Then, I came home to a 2 year old with a viral fever and a 6 year old with lice...

Barry was excited to do something different this week. His friend invited him to a Porsche driving experience where he was able to drive FAST on a racetrack up in Birmingham, AL. He had a fabulous time!!! I spent the evening playing with my kiddos in the rain :).

This weekend, Ryleigh and Barry have the fever and the rest of the "crud" that comes with this virus. Fingers and toes crossed that I don't catch it because I'm supposed to go to Atlanta tomorrow. LAST trip before the boys are born!!!!! That's another "last..."

In other news, we found-out who Ryleigh has as a teacher for first grade and procured all her school supplies. I can't believe there's only 1 week left in our summer!!! To celebrate, we are going to do a 2-night getaway next weekend, right before school starts. Looking forward to that!

My only recent complaint is ankle swelling for the first time yesterday. My next doc appointment is with Dr. Medlock this week, so I'm excited to see how much the boys have grown and check-in on how I'm doing.

Y'all have a fabulous week! ((hugs))
