Double Down on October 11!

My c-section is scheduled 8 weeks from today! I just received a call from Dr. Medlock's office, and unless the boys decide to make an appearance on their own before October 11, they will be delivered that morning.

I took my final work trip last week. I hopped on a plane to Atlanta for one night, and you should have seen the looks I received from the flight attendants. They all looked panicked that I would give birth on the plane! Fortunately, everything went smoothly, and I'm officially "home" until after the new year.

I had a check-up with Dr. Medlock last week, and everything went well. I had my glucose test and received a passing grade. All my other biophysical indicators are good too. The boys had their first biophysical screen, which I've never experienced before. By ultrasound, they checked heart rate, breathing attempts and listened for the rate of blood flow through the umbilical cord. The heart rate and breathing attempts were easy to capture because they were both alert, active and "practice breathing" through the test. But, the cord blood flow as tricker because neither baby wanted to hold still for the measurement. I had to hold my breath and hold very still a bunch of times for each baby. We got it all captured though - and they are both very healthy!

In family news, we had a fabulous weekend getaway! Friday night, Barry and I had a night to ourselves at a hotel down on the beach. We left work early on Friday to take Ryleigh to her 1st grade orientation and then went to the hotel for a nap - it was glorious! We went out to a nice dinner on the town and then ate ice cream and watched TV, uninterrupted. And we slept the whole night - uninterrupted!

Saturday morning, I woke-up at 5:15 with some unexpected symptoms that had us on the way to L&D for monitoring at 5:30am. Sacred Heart is so wonderful! They checked me out quickly, monitored the boys for a little over an hour and determined that we were all just fine - that my symptoms would resolve with a day or two. They called Dr. Medlock, and he released me back to my mini vacation.

Barry then took me to a yummy breakfast and back to the hotel for another nap. Do you see a trend to this mini-vacation?? The girls joined us right before lunch time, so we grabbed some beignets and then had a great time playing in the pool before taking them out for Mexican. Well... Ryleigh ate dinner, but Libby slept through it LOL.

Sunday morning, we all slept-in a bit and then went out for another round of eating and swimming, followed by donuts at Krispy Kreme. We were all very spoiled and enjoyed our last blow-out weekend of summer!

Ryleigh is officially in 1st grade! She loves her teacher, and I love being back into the routine. She got a haircut and ice cream cone after the first day of school. Not a shabby way to start the year huh?!?

This weekend will be yard work, nesting and likely a lemonade stand that Ryleigh has been BEGGING to do all summer. We might get out on the boat if the weather and our energy levels cooperate. Next week, I see the perinatal specialists for my next check-in. I'll update everyone after that appointment. Until then, HUGS!
